About The Club

The Zen-Bu Do Martial Arts Academy was founded by Prof. Paul McVey Shihan & Bert Rodgers Sensei in 2009. It uses the principles and teaching of Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu and Aikido to help students gain knowledge and understanding of martial arts, and also progress with self discipline and fitness.

The club is associated with the Kiai Yamabushi Ryu, which is Bu Jutsu Ryu and also an International Jiu Jutsu association, based in Isleworth Middlesex. Kiai Yamabushi Ryu combines the schools of Yamabushi Ryu Bu Jutsu and Kiai Aiki Bu Jutsu into a single supporting body with a common philosophy and repertoire of techniques. KYR was founded upon the traditional values of the warrior-monk back in 1993 by Prof. Jamie Lee-Barron Hanshi and Prof. George Scarrott Hanshi, both longstanding well qualified martial artists of good reputation.

The Zen-Bu Do Academy currently has clubs located in Scotland, Sri Lanka and Nepal, with prospects of opening in England. This website is dedicated to the Kilmarnock club of the academy, but information about the other clubs may also feature.
